Nunawading Cricket Club

Seniors

Message from Paul Harrison (Club Coach)

Welcome to Winter 2010, I hope everyone is well and fit during the cricket off season.

While most of us are thinking about who is going to win the football (hopefully your team is doing well I know mine is sitting on top of the ladder ) each week to the lead up to the Final series,Nunawading CC has been working behind the scenes to prepare for the upcoming 2010/11 season. As Coach I am looking forward to this season as a turn around for the club as a whole, the committee has been hard at it trying to recruit players as well as retaining the old.

I am expecting changes to happen this year with the commitment of all players playing for Nunawading CC on & off the field. I am implementing structured training sessions for all grades to enhance our skills with net sessions, fitness sessions, fielding sessions & we will also have specialised training sessions throughout the season.

With only 80 days until the first ball is bowled this season, I know most of you are probably not thinking about the season at hand, I encourage you to start looking at it as it is not all that far away.

I pleased to make some announcements to you all, which are the following.....

1st Eleven Captain - Matt Meehan.
2nd Eleven Captain - Kev Rosemeyer.

We are also please to announce the recruitment of an ex-Nuna player - Chris Coller.
For those who don’t know Chris – he is an opening bowler who is relatively quick – up there with Matty in pace and also a very handy middle order bat, who won the batting average with Vermont is Shield grade during their premiership years.

Pre-Season training has been organised to be at.

These dates are the official Pre-season training and I strongly recommend that if you expect to play in the top 2 sides you attend, All players are welcome to
attend. The club is also bringing back the Club Champion Award in which training sessions will now count towards the trophy.

Currently I am also running Saturday morning sessions at Maddocks Sports between 10 - 11 am starting from the 19th of June any player is welcome to come down
and have a trundle or bat, all are welcome the more the merrier.

I am along with the committee organising a full club meeting to go over the expectations for the coming season, this will not be a long night but recommend everyone to attend. When I have further details we will be in touch with you.

Along with pre-season NCC is also organising at least one maybe two practice matches prior to the season beginning.

I have spoken with a few of the current playing group and I will be contacting everyone in the very near future to discuss the up & coming season.

Also don't forget the Juniors, they are now thriving part of our club, if you are willing to help out with Training or Games please let me know and I will put you in contact with the people concerned. At this stage I think the Junior registration day is some time in August (will confirm date) this may be a good time for us to catch up and as a club to show support for the Juniors.

I will keep you up to date of any developments as they happen

Lets make this year a year to remember for Nunawading Cricket Club.

Thanks,
Harro
