Season Training Sessions (October – March)
Under 10 cricket practice will commence at 4.30pm Wednesdays for 90 mins (the first 60 mins in the nets, then 30 mins of fielding practice).
Under 12s Cricket practice will commence at 5.00pm Wednesdays for 90 mins (the first 30 mins will be fielding then 60 mins in the nets).
This allows both groups to have dedicated nets access for batting/bowling/1 on 1 skills development for 60 minutes.
Under 14s Cricket practice will commence at 5.00pm Thursdays for 90 mins.
This season we are aiming to field:
Milo in2CRICKET
We hope to run 30 children in 2 groups, one group for younger children for those who need to learn base motor skills like catching and throwing etc and a second group aimed at older children who have the basics and would benefit more from a more advanced program preparing them for Under 10 non-competitive cricket. Some of these children may also wish to play the odd Under 10 game.
Under Age competition
3 Under 10 teams playing on Friday night
2 Under 12 teams, playing on Friday night
1 Under 12 team, playing on Saturday morning
1 Under 14 team, playing on Saturday morning
1 Under 16 team, playing on Saturday morning
Home games will be held at Mahoneys Reserve.
Under 10s:
Under 10s is non-competitive, fun cricket. The aim is that each player bowls and bats for the same number of balls in a 100-120 ball innings. The emphasis is not on competition or winning but simply having fun.
Under 12s:
This season, we will nominate to have 1 team in each of Friday B & C grade and Saturday C grade. C Grade is non-competitive, meaning there are no ladders and no finals. We will still score and notionally win or lose but the results will not go towards playing in finals. This will suit our younger group as we are less likely to play against teams much better than us who are more serious about winning rather than participating and having fun. When registering your children, please advise of any preference for playing on Friday or Saturday.
Also, if your child is still Under 10 but is keen to play more serious cricket, we would be pleased to speak to you about he or she playing Under 12s. We may also approach you about this if we feel he or she is ready.
Under 14s:
The team will be nominated for Under 14C and will play on Saturday mornings from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. Under 14C is a normal, competitive grade with results, ladders and finals.
Any cricketers playing on Friday night and interested in playing on Saturdays as well should also let Paul Aspin, Junior Secretary know. Paying preference will be given to those registered for Saturday cricket only of course.
Player Subscriptions: $60 per child, $10 discount if sibling is enrolled for Milo In2CRICKET
Family Membership: $100
These are unchanged from last season and represent excellent value.
Included in the registration fee is a club cap (worth $20). On field cricket shirts are compulsory and are available for $35. Off field polo shirts will be available in children’s sizes for $35 and in adult’s sizes for $50.
All coaches and team managers will be provided with a team cap and shirt.
Membership will also entitle families to have access to the Social Rooms for private functions at no cost (aside from bar and associated running costs).
If any family will find this difficult, please discuss this with a member of the Junior Committee and we will ensure that your child can play cricket.
TBA closer to the start of the season.
Friday nights are a family night each week over summer. Whilst cricket is played on all 3 grounds at our Mahoneys Rd complex, the bbq is fired up and a cold drink is available over the bar. Families meet after the game for dinner and a drink and match reports are read out and player encouragement awards are given out.

Many of you would be unaware that we have a fully function canteen downstairs next to the equipment room. This has not been utilised well by our club for a long time. The Club is seeking expressions of interest from anyone who may be interested in running the canteen on Friday nights, and possibly Saturdays. All equipment will be provided and we would be prepared to enter into a profit sharing or license agreement with anyone interested in running a small catering business from there. You can be assured of our full support and, if you are interested, please contact me.
Two important roles are the Friday and Saturday co-ordinators. These roles are responsible for ensuring all support requirements are met such as opening the rooms, ensuring catering is as required, ensuring sunscreen, drinks, first aid etc are ready and available. These roles are currently unfilled and I ask all parents to please consider making yourself available to help. The main requirement is to arrive early, open up and make sure each ground is ready with equipment etc, that tea and coffee etc are ready and it.
Friday is our big night of the week with most teams playing and the social rooms filled with families after the games. A key requirement is to ensure catering is well managed. Food must be purchased, delivered, cooked and served. Simon Keele has looked after this almost single handedly over the last 3 seasons and it is time to give him a break. Can you help? Unless we can find someone to manage this very important role, the duties will be spread amongst home teams and a cooking roster will be allocated.
The Clubs seeks assistance from local businesses to provide encouragement awards and raffle prizes etc. If you can help with anything, please David know.
